This machine was put together in August 2005 for around $400.
Despite what may seem like a slow processor compared to 3 GHz+ Pentiums, this machine packs quite a punch. The Hercules MIPS counter hovers around 30 when performing CPU intensive tasks. The machine runs without a monitor, keyboard, or mouse and is remotely managed through secure shell (SSH). I usually connect to MVS from Windows Vista using Tom Brennan's Vista tn3270 emulator.
